News from the local Essex area
Road Closure - North Weald to Epping
Despite a few changes, the road closure started on Tuesday 1st July.
The signs stated it would be closed from 10am - 3pm daily from 30th June - 4th July.
North Weald Parish Council confirmed that they would told it would also be closed on Saturday and Sunday from 8am - 6pm.
It has also been rumoured that in fact the road closure may continue until 13th July.
On the North Weald Village Life facebook group, there is a daily post with updates from people who are out and about in the village.
Fatal Collision
Specialist Essex Police officers have arrested three teenagers following a fatal collision in Ongar where a 16 year-old boy has died.
We were called shortly before 12.20am on Thursday 26 June to a report of a car found in a ditch having left Blake Hall Road.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a 16 year-old boy died at the scene. Specialist officers are now supporting his family.
They are working to establish what led up to the collision including who was driving the vehicle at the time. As part of their enquiries three teenagers – a 19 year-old man and two boys aged 15 and 17 – have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They were all taken to hospital but are not seriously injured and are currently in custody.
